June 1, 2018 = 1st Friday Fun! Comment for chance to win!

Whoohoo, happy June, everybody! And what a lovely coincidence  . . . It’s not only June 1st, but it’s the first Friday of the month, which means it’s giveaway time here at evbishop.com.

This month’s giveaway: A super fun prize that just shouts summer! (Yes, admittedly it was inspired by wishful thinking. It is very chilly and rainy here this late spring, summer-nowhere-in-sight evening!) Anyway, one lucky winner will receive a signed copy of Spoons—which is a perfect summer getaway if I do say so myself 😉a soft, cheery towel to stretch out on or roll behind your head in your comfy chair, and a fabulous-dahling pineapple drinking glass (because we all need something fancy for our favorite fruity beverages!)

How to enter for your chance to win: Comment/reply to this blog post. Seriously. That’s it!

Can’t think of something to say . . . here I’ll help you!

COMMENT SUGGESTION: Since Summer is tied only with Winter, Spring and Fall for being the best season for reading, how about you share an author whose books you love a lot? (And, of course, you can say anything else you want, so long as it’s appropriate for all ages. 🙂 🙂 ) When this month’s giveaway closes, I’ll make a list of all the recommendations and post it for us all to enjoy and benefit from!

P.S. Haven’t taken part in Friday Fun here at evbishop.com before? Here’s the nitty-gritty. 🙂 All you have to do is show up here on the first Friday of every month and follow the very easy directions, and you’ll be entered for a chance to win. Each giveaway will be open until the 15th of the month, then a winner will be chosen at random and contacted for his/her mailing address and the goodies will go in the post.

Good luck and thanks for popping by! I hope you have a very fun Friday!

  2. I love reading all the authors who write Christian (clean, sweet) historical romances, like Barb Goss and Leah Laurens. I’m starting to read more contemporary authors and Ev Bishop has several that I’m wanting to read!

  3. Well, of course I’m a fan of Ev Bishop’s work, but I also recommend Catherine Cavendish, who writes some awesome Gothic spooky stuff.

Joanne Fluke for brain-break cozy mystery, Karin Slaughter for hardcore thrillers, John Douglas for true crime, and Elizabeth Berg when you need to be reminded of how beautiful ordinary things are.

  37. Since I live in California, 5 minutes from a beach, “summer” starts about the middle of February and ends with Halloween. I love taking impromptu road trips, so I keep a suitcase packed. All I need to do is add any extra clothing depending on how long I plan to be gone. Included–several books in different genre since I’m not sure what I’d be in the mood to read.

  40. Absolutely loving the summer themed giveaways at the moment, as I’m in that part of the world where it’s getting colder, not warmer! That said, June *is* my favourite month because it’s my birthday month AND my brother’s birthday month so there are always big family celebrations… And I’m getting a puppy at the end of the month, too!

Really been enjoying Pamela Ford, Zoe York and Iris Moreland recently, but also re-reading the full collection of works by Jim Butcher who is one of my absolute favourite authors. Have already put a few new authors on my TBR thanks to peoples’ comments above! Thanks for the lovely opportunity to share (and possibly, if your contest is open internationally, to win!) 🙂

  41. Oh my, you don’t make this easy, do you?! Haha, choosing only a few is difficult. My go-to authors right now are Hailey Turner, Susan Stoker, Marie Johnston, May Archer, JD Chambers, Shelly Laurenston/G.A. Aiken, Lori Foster, Maryann Jordan, Nana Malone, and Janie Crouch. I’m currently at the beginning of a long divorce process so I’m diving deep into my books as a bit of an escape. Definitely steering clear of most stories that contain angst, I’m a huge fan of tender, steamy romances right now.

  42. Dear Megan,

I’m so sorry to hear you’re going through such a hard/sad time and I hope your divorce proceedings surprise you by going a lot more smoothly than you anticipate.

Thanks so much for the AWESOME list of your go-to authors! Even if it’s only a partial representation, LOL, it’s pretty great. 🙂

    >>>Definitely steering clear of most stories that contain angst, I’m a huge fan of tender, steamy romances right now.<<<

At the risk of blatant self promotion, I really think you'd enjoy my novel REELING. It doesn't matter if you've read any other books in the series, it's a total standalone. It's not super steamy (none of my books are), but it is tender and fun and a great escape. The things Mia and Gray have survived are serious, but it's not graphic and it's primarily about finding hope and joy and healing.

Regardless of whether you try it or not, I wish you piles and of wonderful, escape giving reads a spring/summer full of some nice surprises. 🙂

  43. Dear Ella,

Your June sounds fabulous! Happy birthday to you and your brother and with your family celebrations. And a new puppy?! You are sooo lucky. I am not allowing myself to get any more animals, but they do make the loveliest, most hilarious, loyal friends. 🙂 🙂 Have fun with him/her!

Your list of authors is great and I’m excited that you’ve jotted down others to try. Once this month’s draw closes, I’m going to compile a list of all our recommendations, which I’ll post here on evbishop.com and will send in my July newsletter.

And yes, for now I’m keeping 1st Friday Fun open Internationally–and think I always will, just depending on *where* a person lives, I might modify the prize (but would talk to each winner independently about that. :D) Thanks for popping by for and best of luck in the draw.

    Stay warm! 😉

  44. An author who I think write great stories and deserves more attention is Tracy Ewens. She has a series that not exactly a series. 🙂 “A Love Story” books are loosely connected but can be read as standalones. If you like reading series in order, though, I recommend starting at the beginning. Several of the main characters in the stories are related to each other. If you don’t want to start at the beginning then you might try starting with Brew: A Love Story. Brew starts a 3 book arc with each book about a different brother. I finished Brew recently and it’s a great book.
